2 older pieces - for display only...

Attic finds from today, almost forgotten...in 1995 I painted an acrylic on canvas, the "Wood Soldier" painting. It has been framed before, and unframed, given as a Christmas gift, and given back again. This was BEFORE my oil painting adventures. It had something to do with a combination of both being at Christmastime, and also with being in a very large house where wood was prevalent as a building material. You can tell it's early, because I didn't sign my artist name "Stephen". It "feels" very much like a "folk" painting, something from the south, dredged up out of collective memory, my childhood, and what would have been then the present angst of being overwhelmed by a world where I was not familiar. So...self-analyzing...this was a "retreat" painting, escapism for my soul, much needed.

The other framed painting is titled "Milky Dreams". This was 2015, an early oil work, just getting started with the wood panels that were the original 3/4" thick furniture grade walnut that I used to paint on, and also endemic of my attention to subjects in water, or in a dream state. Primitive, for me, yet one of my first attempts at an "all wet" surface in one sitting. The frame is my traditional oak.
