View of 20 Exchange Place

This is based on an old photograph of the view out of my office window. Way back.

I always loved 20 Exchange Place. It was a huge old art deco building with soldiers and Native American warriors and architectural details of scenes of commerce, like the nautical scene depicted in another one of my paintings. There are so many great details on the building I could probably isolate one a year for the rest of my life.

In retrospect this is another of my views out a window in Manhattan series. Not a series I consciously set out to create but which clearly exists.

I leaned the buildings, exaggerated angles and generally expressed everything in more color than in real life. That's what I do. I am especially pleased with the balance and compositions here, too.
