Impressed with clouds, always, and their sometimes overwhelming nature, this image caught my attention as a photograph by Charles Gotay. The subject was only compelling to me however if it was going to be large and imposing. So...it could only be 44x44 inch and 2 in. deep. That's the widest maple panel I had at that time (well 48x96, but I had to make the sides as well).

I'm inspired by nature, but this kind of nature really deserved an almost "scary" scale to it to be effective. And as an aside, my family and I have found several hundred different types of "things" in the clouds. I've found myself staring at it for a very long time. It's somewhat spellbinding.

This is oil on maple wood panel, w/sturdy truss construction making it absolutely flat on the front, and the sides jet black. I build these like the very best box kites, light, but strong. Very easy to hang.
